The timezone week: how a build runs when your studio is in India

4 September 20262 min readSamastack, Hyderabad

The fear about hiring abroad is not usually quality. It is the picture of waiting a day for every answer. Here is what a week actually looks like, hour by hour, from four cities.

The shape of a week

Most of a build is not conversation; it is work, and work does not need you awake. What needs you is one decision a week and the odd question in between. So the week is built around one scheduled demo call in your working hours, written updates you read when you like, and a live link that changes every week.

  • Monday. The week's plan lands in writing: what will be on the live link by Friday, and any question we need answered to get there.
  • Midweek. Questions go both ways in writing. If one needs a conversation, it happens in your hours.
  • Friday. The live link is updated and the demo call is in your morning, afternoon or evening depending on where you are. You open the software and click through it yourself.

Four cities

  • Dubai and Riyadh. One and a half to two and a half hours behind Hyderabad. Your ten in the morning is our lunchtime; the whole working day overlaps. This is the easiest case, and the reason the Gulf is where most of our overseas work comes from.
  • London and Berlin. Your morning is our afternoon. Calls land comfortably around eleven your time, and anything you write after lunch is answered first thing your next morning.
  • Singapore and Jakarta. You are ahead of us by an hour or two. We are online through your afternoon and evening; a question at nine your time is answered before your lunch.
  • New York and Toronto. Your evening call is our next morning's plan, and work done while you sleep is on the link when you wake. This is the one where the written updates matter most, and they are written for exactly that.

What stays the same wherever you are

A written scope with a fixed number in your currency. Milestone payments. A live link every week. One lead you can reach, the same person from the first call to handover. And at handover, code, hosting and domain in your name, in the cloud region you choose, so nothing we hold can be held over you.

The first project for most overseas clients is a website: two weeks, and you see the rhythm before committing to more. Prices in dollars, dirhams and pounds →

Where this applies: clients outside India, the studio in Hyderabad, a website built in twelve days.
